Summer Reading Challenge 📚

June 1st - July 31st

The Summer Reading Program is designed to encourage youths to engage with literature during the summer months, a time when many students may experience a decline in reading skills due to the absence of structured educational activities. This program aims to promote literacy by motivating participants to accumulate a total of 100 hours of reading throughout the summer break.

Objectives and Goals

The primary goal of the program is to cultivate a lifelong love of reading among participants.

Reading Materials

To support the participants in their reading journey we have implemented a reading log and book report link on our website.

Tracking Progress

Participants will be encouraged to track their reading hours and completed books throughout the summer. This can be done using our reading log where they can log their progress and share their thoughts on the books they've read.

Incentives and Awards

To further motivate participants, the program will implement a reward system where prizes are awarded for each chapter book completed with a book report. These prizes range from bookmarks and stickers to gift cards. The incentive structure is designed to celebrate achievements, no matter how small, and to reinforce the value of reading as a rewarding and enriching activity.

Community Engagement

In addition to individual reading goals, the program will encourage community engagement through group activities such as online reading circles and book discussions. These events will provide participants with opportunities to share their experiences, discuss themes and characters, and engage with peers who share similar interests. By fostering a sense of community around reading, the program aims to create an environment where participants feel supported and inspired to continue their literary journeys.

Conclusion

The Summer Reading Literacy Program is more than just a summer activity; it is an investment in the future of young readers. By accumulating 50 hours of reading, participants not only enhance their literacy skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for the written word.
