12th Grade English IV (Semester One)

English IV is a comprehensive, college-preparatory language arts course designed to strengthen students' skills in literature, composition, communication, grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking from a Christian worldview. Modeled after the academic rigor of traditional college-preparatory curricula, students will analyze classic and contemporary literature, write in multiple genres, conduct research using MLA format, and develop effective speaking and presentation skills. Throughout the course, students will examine how literature reflects truth, character, leadership, justice, sacrifice, redemption, and the human condition while learning to evaluate ideas through biblical principles. Students will complete analytical essays, literary critiques, persuasive arguments, creative writing projects, technical writing, resumes, college essays, speeches, and a senior capstone research paper. The course emphasizes higher-order thinking, effective communication, academic integrity, and preparation for college-level English courses and future careers.
