About
🛑Course Description This course takes students through the complete process of creating and preparing an original graphic novel for publication. Students will write a 10-chapter graphic novel, develop characters and settings, create original illustrations, revise and edit each chapter, format the completed manuscript, design the book's front and back matter, prepare the publication files, and submit the completed project to a publishing company. Because the course meets only two days per week, students must understand that this is an independent production course. Class meetings provide instruction, demonstrations, assignments, feedback, critiques, and production checkpoints. A significant portion of the actual writing, drawing, editing, and formatting will be completed offline between class meetings. Students will submit their work digitally at designated checkpoints so the instructor can review each stage before the student moves forward. Total Class Meetings: 36 Course Length: 18 Weeks Major Project: Original 10-Chapter Graphic Novel Final Goal: Completed, illustrated, formatted, and submitted graphic novel for publication This one-time course fee includes the student's publishing and printing costs for the completed graphic novel. There are no separate publishing or printing fees for the student as part of the normal course requirements.
